The Ljubljana flea market: not to be missed

Every Sunday morning, a small flea market takes place on the banks of the river Ljubljanica, which flows through the old centre of Ljubljana. Around thirty stallholders come to sell their old objects from the former Yugoslavia and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

You’ll find everything here : thousands of old postcards, old cameras, old watches, metal boxes, small furniture, large picture frames, crockery, military insignia, portraits of Hitler and Tito…

Before you set off on your Sunday getaway, I recommend a visit to this antique market. This is where you’ll find authentic souvenirs to bring back from Slovenia. Come in the morning and not in the afternoon, as all the vendors leave the market at around 1 p.m

Tip : Right next to the market, you’ll find two pleasant terraces where I like to have a coffee on Sunday mornings.

Many Ljubljana residents come here to stroll around on Sunday mornings.

The market stalls are very lively, whatever the season. It’s a little less busy when it rains, but that doesn’t mean the market is cancelled.

Tip: Buy old postcards from the market ‘s antique dealers and send them to friends and family. They often cost less than €1 each. You’ll often find stamps featuring Tito on these cards.

Tito, the Sunday morning super star

The antique market takes place every Sunday throughout the year, even in winter. At this address. If you’re in Ljubljana at the weekend, it’s worth a visit.
